Palestine 2013

After spending four months in Palestine at the beginning of this year working at The Freedom Theatre in Jenin Refugee Camp, Sayda Trujillo will be returning with two CWB performers including David Lichtenstein. They will travel in the West Bank for two weeks performing in Area C communities for hundreds of children, youths and adults in Jenin district, Jordan Valley and South Hebron Hills. They will be hosted by The Freedom Theatre, Jordan Valley Solidarity and by community leaders in the South Hebron Hills. Continue reading

The Philippines 2013

Clowns Without Borders partners with Plan International and CWB Australia to provide shows and laughter for the Philippines over the Christmas Holiday. The clowns performed in some of the worst hit communities following Typhoon Haiyan. Michael O’Neill, Matthew Poki McCorkle, Briar Seyb-Hayden (from CWB Australia), and Jpeace Love Circus comprise our side-splitting team. We are thankful to these artists for volunteering to share their holiday season with our neighbors in the Philippines. Continue reading

Our team for this tour is big- six funny people in all! And we’ll be coming together from all across the United States; from LA, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. But wait! It gets better! This CWB-USA project features clowns that can FLY! Along with seasoned CWB-USA volunteers David Clay, Jan Damm, and Gwendolyn Rooker, we’re sending aerialist, Caitlyn Larsson, and a couple clowns who play in the air, Kolleen Kintz and Bobby Kintz! These clowns were ready and hungry for play. In every activity, from games, to simple walking exercises, to improvisations, they would dive in and find all kinds of comic and poetic material. It felt like all I needed to give them was a small window into play and they would happily bust it open to make a huge door into vast territories of creative funny. Continue reading

CWB partnered with local clown organizations CaliClown and Pasos de Payasos to share laughter with families facing structural violence, poverty and discrimination. Our team performed shows and offered workshops in Bogotá and Cali from June 30-July 12th. Continue reading

An amazing experience covering over 2000 km along the Ecuador/Colombia border. We worked with UNHCR/ACNUR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees ), CDH and Narices Rojas as a part of our two-year partnership with our colleagues in Ecuador. Continue reading

Myanmar/Burma 2013

For Project Burma 2013, Moshe Cohen (cwb-usa founder) spent over two weeks in Yangon teaching workshops and performing with local theater group Thukhama Khayeethe, March 6-23, 2013. He also conducted two staff trainings with Medecins Du Monde. Continue reading

Mexico 2013: Chiapas

Clowns Without Borders has been leading projects in Chiapas since 2000. For this year’s project CWB partnered with Alianza and Save the Children. Three artists performed for
predominantly displaced indigenous children who have found themselves in
the inner city of Tuxtla Gutirrez working on the streets selling everything from
hand made artisan crafts to cigarettes and chicklets bubble gum.
