Lebanon May/June 2014: Syrian Refugees
More than one million refugees have flooded into Lebanon in the past three years. And new refugees keep coming as the conflict, which by some estimates has left more than 150,000 people dead, grinds into its fourth year. Clowns Without Borders partnered with Layan organization to share laughter with Syrian refugees in Lebanon . An international team of 4 artists performed and gave workshops in the Bekaa valley, North and in Beirut from May 31-June 14. Continue reading
The Philippines 2014
From January 27th to February 9th 2014 CWB partnered with Plan International in the Philippines for a second time. The first tour, made during the 2013 holiday season, reached over 13,000 children and families recovering from Typhoon Haiyan. For this second project a group of 5 clowns led two intensive workshops for a total of 80 youth (ages 17-36) over 6 days. The workshops focused on performance building skills and ways to share stories through the arts. The clowns also performed for communities in East Samar, Tacloban & Leyte. Continue reading
Colombia 2014: Cali
Continuing an ongoing 5-year collaboration between Clowns without Borders USA and Colombian clowns, the team of 5 Colombian and American artists taught workshops and performed to kids, students and families in villages in both Bogota and rural areas around Cali Their show was called, “Oink”; photos by Ana Maria Cuevas Escobar.
