CWB has been doing profound and deeply meaningful work around the world for many years. That work has a ripple effect, making us collectively a little bit better, a little bit gentler, and a little bit kinder.
Clowns Without Borders USA is delighted to welcome Amrita Dhaliwal and Eric Rubin to the Board of Directors. Both Amrita and Eric are eager to step in to learn, engage, and help guide the organization through COVID-19 and beyond.
Amrita Dhaliwal (UHM-ri-thuh) has a contagious spirit. Board Member Sayda Trujillo recommended her because of the way she integrates social and creative commitments as a theater-maker. Sayda says, “Amrita is actively decolonizing clown pedagogy.”
In addition to her work as an educator and director, Amrita is an actor, comedian, and hospital clown. She has trained extensively in physical theater, clown, traditional theater, and sketch/improv comedy. She currently writes, produces, and performs in a variety of projects. Eric Rubin (AIR – ick) went on his first CWB tour to Ecuador in 2019. He has since facilitated a partnership between CWB and Corporación Humor Y Vida, resulting in a co-produced digital tour to address family stress and child abuse. He brings 15 years of nonprofit experience to the CWB Board alongside his performance work in original comedic music and physical theater. Learn more about Eric here.
“CWB has been on my radar since my days studying as a clown,” Eric says. “I can’t wait to continue collaborating with Naomi, Nicole and the incredible artists and leaders on the board, furthering CWB’s essential mission to spread joy during these trying times.” CWB – USA Executive Director Naomi Shafer recommended Eric to the board because of his broad experience. “Eric is curious and organized, always looking for a way to deepen engagement and offer support,” she says.
